When Bruce Hopkins founded The Remodelers in 2003, after a 25 year history in construction management and executive manufacturing positions, he was determined to bring his reputation for superior workmanship and customer relations into his new venture. The Remodelers’ unique business model was developed by bringing the principles of successful relationships into the renovation game, with personal accountability and professional transparency being top priority. “What it really came down to was a lack of skilled trades people in the industry, and we didn't want to play hit and miss by relying on outsourcing to fill our needs," says Hopkins about the decision to hire an in-house labour force rather than rely primarily on sub-trades.

Hopkins, the man who has moved out of his own home so his clients could have a sawdust-free place to stay, mentors his growing staff of 47 full-time employees with the same drive for excellence and ferocious work ethic that had him pumping gas at 9 years old in Nova Scotia. In the words of one of his project managers, “Like a great hockey coach, he’s a leader you respect.” The Remodelers’ dynamic company atmosphere is fueled by Hopkins’ personal charisma, vision, and stubborn belief that life (even and especially renovations) should be fun!
With Remodel It! currently producing its fourth season (Sundays on CTV at 10am), and a growing social media presence on Facebook and Twitter, The Remodelers are modernizing Calgary’s reno industry while still keeping a focus on ‘all the little things’ that make a relationship a true partnership, like complimentary professional packing and secure storage in overseas containers at our 25,000 sq/ft corporate facility close to downtown - 4606 1st Street SE. As Hopkins puts it, “our biggest compliment is when our customers tell us they feel like family.”
In addition to Hopkins volunteering his mentoring and business leadership skills within the community, The Remodelers donates their salvaged building materials and used appliances to Oxford House Foundation, and, in 2009, was proud to present a deserving family with a $100,000 Dream Renovation.
